Glue to your Hymnbook!

The tried true tested method of applying the hymnbook covers to your book is this way:

We have done it up here to our books five years ago, and as of today, they are still firmly attached to our black leather books, and our red cardboard (hardcover) books. You will need one 30cm ruler, two large plastic bags (ziplock work best), and you will need to buy Rubber Cement. (Caution: use in a well ventilated area!) Apply the glue liberally and thoroughly to the surface of your book and to the cover. Take the front flap (on right hand side when picture is right side up) and open up the front cover of the book. Smooth down. Place the plastic bag in between the first page and the front cover so that when the glue dries, the page will not stick to the cover.

Then quickly (but carefully) press the cover down from the flap side working towards the spine of the book, using the 30cm ruler.

Finish with the back flap and insert the ziplock bag between the back cover and the last page of the book. Place the finished covered hymnbook under heavy books for four hours, at which point the glue will be dry.

The neat thing about the this glue is that once it is dry, you can rub the glue that gets out from under the cover off with your fingers, and it will stick to each other. A tiny clump becomes a bigger ball as you add more rubbed glue. So you can easily remove glue from places you don't want it.

All the best, and we wish you God's blessing as we await Christ's return! I hope you enjoy the covers as much as we do.
